The Lab: A 14 Yr-Old’s Perspective

A week after I arrived in Dallas, my sister took me to her lab where she does her experiments to get her PhD. During my time in lab, I learned a lot about what exactly goes on inside a lab and some of the processes scientists have to go through in order to build a successful experiment. Hanging out with my sister in lab! The majority of my sister’s lab work with flies in their experiments. Scientists who work with flies need to make sure that the flies have enough food to stay healthy and alive. In order to do that, scientists do something called “Flipping Flies”. Exploring DFW With My BFF

I moved to Dallas 2 yrs ago. Unfortunately, I have not had a chance to explore the city as much as I would have liked. It still feels like a foreign city to me and hasn’t felt like home just yet. Next stop, one of my favorite places in Dallas, Cake Bar in Trinity Groves. I am a sucker for dessert and especially a sucker for good cake. My first time at the Cake Bar was when I came to interview for UTSW and I fell in love. My favorites are the red velvet, german chocolate and the Italian crème! Can’t go wrong with those flavors! Friday: Unfortunately I had to work, but luckily, my schedule can be pretty flexible. I worked for half the day, finished eve...
