My Lucky Month

What a month!! February is always my favorite and best month of the year!

This month has brought so much excitement and so many gifts! I can’t even figure out where to start with all the wonderful adventures and experiences I have gone through!! Here’s a quick summary of all that happened in February!

  • February 1st: Acceptance offer from University of Massachusetts Medical Campus in Worcester

  • February 5th: Submit revisions for my first author paper
  • February 14th: MY BIRTHDAY!!! My first, first author manuscript accepted!!! Officially have 3 papers on PubMed. (1 First author, 2 coauthors!)
  • February 21st: Manuscript published online
  • February 25th-27th: Go to Dallas, TX for an interview at UT-Southwestern
  • February 29th: Notification of acceptance from UT-Southwestern Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences!!


Couldn’t have started and ended February with better news!!! I am going to graduate school and I have choices!!!

Next stop… University of Miami interview weekend in 10 days!!

Operation Mouse

Part of working at such a great research institution is working with mice. While my first experience as I had mentioned earlier in the blog was sacrificing these animals, my experience now is much more exciting and productive towards the scientific community. Acknowledging Our Humanity

Last month, I went to an event on UTSW’s campus called Acknowledging our Humanity. The event was a compilation of stories submitted by faculty, graduate, health professions and medical students about their personal experiences with mental health challenges. I never realized how so many people struggle with mental health illness, yet it is still such a “dirty” topic to be discussed. Meal Prepping My Way Into the New Year

Like my previous blog suggested, the New Year is all about optimism. With this optimism, I prepped my meals for the week. Hard boiled eggs, turkey bacon and fruit (banana or orange) Flat bread wrap.
